What's new?

The program is off to a good start. The girls have been working hard in the weight room to get stronger and in the gym to get quicker. It was evident that their work is paying off thus far as we competed in our first Fall league game on Saturday at Millikan HS. There were some positive things that came out of those games and looking forward to getting better. The JV and Varsity teams both had two games. Frosh/Soph will be starting theirs this week.

Sunday, the varsity team played two games at Hope International University. Here they are seeing solid competition as they embark on their new journey. They won the first by 2, and lost the second by two. Grind out games we like, as you know. The nail bitters. Just kidding. These games will be good for us, as they are teaching our team to finish.

F/S team: Head Coach, Justene Reyes. A bear alumni. Went on to Monmouth University and graduated. She came back to coach and to continue to share her love for this game.
She will be great for our little's. Fundamental is very important at this age. She is doing a fine job with them. She also is assisting on our varsity squad.

JV team: Head Coach, Greg Sii. He comes to us from Poly HS, where he coached the boys team there. In the off season he coaches girls club basketball in a well know national program. He is a great pick up and will add a toughness to our program. He is working hard developing young people and teaching the game. The girls one their first fall league game, while losing their second one in overtime. We are already seeing the difference he is making in the young peoples lives.

Varsity team: Head Coach, Palms. Head assistant, Franny Vaaulu. Also assisted by Tahja Matthews. The team is coming back young. There is youth and a few returners from last season. We know of the work ahead of us and we are embracing the process. Buy in, to any program, it important. The special thing is Giselle, Eryn, Alyssa, Sasha, J, Aubry and Jordan bring the experience of our CIF run last year. They bring a hunger and desire to get back there. Adding to our group, Halle, Kiana, Skylar, Diana, and Brianna will be exciting as they are passionate about this game, being successful and competing. Our coaching staff look forward to the future of this program and how things shape this season. Coach J and Greg has been a huge part of our in gym conditioning and helping create a dominate mindset.

Check back once in a while as we will post pictures, share our journey and have players blogg about their thoughts this year. Thank you for your continued support and cheering us on. Remember, #countnooneout

Go Bears!
